30 years of prophysics AG
1996 was a different time. Floppy discs were considered a modern storage medium, modems made their characteristic sounds when dialling in, and motion capture was a technology reserved for a handful of pioneers. It was in that very year that prophysics laid the foundations, launching its first sales activities in Switzerland with a clear vision: to make motion analysis accessible, precise and practical.
Step by step, the company grew. Around 2005, the first German universities came on board; by 2010, the entire DACH region had been established. In 2013, the company opened its first own premises in Kloten, followed in 2026 by a move to spacious offices in Opfikon near Zurich.
Today, we can look back on over 900 satisfied customers, more than 60 installations per year and a community that drives us forward every day.
Usergroup Meeting 2026 at the ETH Zürich
We celebrated our 30th anniversary together with our community, our partners and friends – and the 2026 User Group Meeting at ETH Zurich provided the perfect setting for it.
The first day featured a packed and inspiring programme. Host Bill Taylor not only gave us access to ETH Zurich, but also provided exclusive insights into his new laboratory and ongoing research projects. Our speakers – Bill Taylor, Kirsten Albracht, Andreas Kranzl, Brian Horsak, Anne Katrin Brust, Gerrit Bücken and Mayumi Mohan – enriched the day with technical presentations that went far beyond the scope of a traditional conference.
We rounded off the evening in the ETH lecturers’ foyer. With a breathtaking view over the rooftops of Zurich, good conversation and a birthday cake, we officially toasted 30 years of prophysics. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our long-standing partners Vicon, Cometa, AMTI, Contemplas, h/p/cosmos and Xsens, whose presence and contributions helped make the meeting a success.
Here’s to the next 30 years!
